Transporting a Troubled Teen
Transporting a troubled teen can be next to the hardest decision a parent will have to make when they cannot get their troubled teen to the desired treatment facility. We know first off how hard it can be to get your child or troubled teen to a boarding school so we want to make this as safe and therapeutic as possible. We come to the parents home licensed and bonded so the parents know and realize their troubled teen is in safe hands right from the get go. Therefore the legal guardian or parent knows right off that they made the right decision and their precious teen will be well taken care of and safe.
One of the biggest questions that arise before or during transporting a troubled teen are do you use restraints. We do bring handcuffs as a safety measure, but only use them if the troubled teen becomes violent or aggressive towards the agents or themselves. We tell the troubled teen right up front that the decision to go has already been made and there are only two choices left. First option for the troubled teen is to go willing by getting out of bed and putting his/her clothes on and head to the car. Option two is we will forcefully remove the troubled teen from their home, which we do not like to do but will if needs be.
Once the troubled teen has been removed from the home we explain to them where they are going and what to expect during the trip. We ask all parents to have a letter prepared for their troubled teen explaining why they made the decision they did. The child then has the opportunity to review the letter and brochures of boarding school, in which he or she will be attending, and ask us any questions that may come up. For security purposes we always bring two agents when transporting a troubled teen. This allows all angles to be covered so the troubled teen can’t say the agent hit or harmed in because there is a witness present at all times. Also it allows the lead agent time to drive safely and keep the family up to speed the entire trip.
