Many people still think that a military boarding school is reserved for troublesome teens. But nowadays the military boarding school has changed its mission, and has become a great institution that fosters learning and growth in young people through discipline and hard work. The aim of a military boarding school is to create young leaders who have confidence, self-respect and responsibility.

Generally any military boarding school will still use principles of dedication, teamwork and discipline as a methodology for motivating youngsters. The students of a military boarding school will have to live in barracks and they will all do their own work including cleaning and washing. This will instill a sense of responsibility, and the regular activities are different at a military boarding school. There is a lot more importance given to sports and outdoor activities which are important for the development of young bodies. Study time is limited to specific hours, but a military boarding school will give as much importance to academics as regular schools do. In a military boarding school students are taught the value of rewards given for accomplishments and also learn from the punishments meted out because of any diversions. This helps to make them self-motivated individuals determined to achieve the best in life through determination and hard work.

A military boarding school is for students from 7th grade to 12th grade. A military boarding school will have rigorous academic programs, punctuated by arts programs, athletic development and a proper military training. Students will learn English, math, science, geography/world cultures, health and physical education, algebra, and foreign languages like Spanish or French. Physical development is given a lot of importance through sports that will encourage teamwork. Other activities will include training in computer and web technologies, film appreciation, first aid, model rocketry, archery, surfing, sailing, scuba diving, publication and performing arts. Most military boarding schools also encourage spiritual development through regular chapel prayers.
